Christos Theofilou, International Tax and Transfer Pricing Partner at STI Taxand, stated that businesses are called upon to reassess their strategies in order to comply with the new requirements of Pillar Two, which focus on substantive economic activity and tax transparency.

Analyzing international tax strategies at the 8th Cyprus International Tax Conference, he emphasized the importance of properly organizing taxable assets and structures to ensure optimal tax treatment.

The speaker then discussed the types of organizational structures for intellectual property (IP) and the tax incentives for their development.

He highlighted two critical issues businesses face when organizing their intellectual property: first, determining the location for IP development, and second, deciding where to hold the IP for exploitation.

In this context, he presented various tax incentives for IP development, such as accelerated depreciation, super-deductions, and tax incentives for research and development (R&D Tax Credits).

Finally, he analyzed the potential impact of Pillar Two on tax incentives, emphasizing that the new changes would significantly affect the management strategies for intellectual property and the utilization of tax incentives on an international level.

The 8th Cyprus International Tax Conference was an amazing event.
